GH + Sleep Powder – How Neurotransmitters Influence Sleep and Relaxation

Mar 30, 2026

I would like to introduce a remarkable product with an interesting name: “GH + Sleep Powder”.

At first glance, the product name may suggest that this supplement helps you sleep better, functioning as a sleeping aid. However, the reality is more interesting, and I will guide you step by step to discover this supplement and appreciate its true value.

What does it contain?

Minerals (zinc and magnesium), vitamin B6, arginine, glutamine, lysine, ornithine, carnitines, and more. However, I will not focus on these.

BUT…

In addition to these ingredients, we also find gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) and L-tryptophan. Here we enter a territory that is not fully understood but heavily exploited on social media: the so-called “happiness hormones” and neurotransmitters. GABA is a neurotransmitter, while L-tryptophan is an amino acid precursor of SEROTONIN, often excessively presented as the hormone of happiness.

Let’s step into a new field for many of us: the world of neurotransmitters.

NEUROTRANSMITTERS

Neurotransmitters are chemical compounds released at the level of presynaptic nerve endings that transmit, stimulate, and regulate signals between neurons and target cells in the body. In other words, they act as chemical messengers at the level of the brain and the entire body, influencing our behavior, mental state, emotions, learning processes, memory, etc.

According to their chemical structure and roles in the human body, neurotransmitters can be classified as follows:

1. AMINES

  • acetylcholine
  • dopamine
  • noradrenaline
  • adrenaline
  • serotonin
  • histamine

2. AMINO ACIDS

  • glycine
  • glutamic acid
  • aspartic acid
  • GABA

3. NEUROPEPTIDES

  • substance P
  • endorphins
  • enkephalins
  • dynorphins

If we analyze the effect neurotransmitters have on target cells after binding to their specific receptors, we can identify three types:

  • excitatory – activates the cell and stimulates the transmission of information to the next cell (e.g., glutamate, and in certain contexts adrenaline and noradrenaline)
  • inhibitory – reduces the likelihood of transmitting information to another cell (e.g., GABA, glycine)
  • modulatory – regulates intersynaptic communication of nerve cells, often affecting multiple neurons simultaneously (e.g., dopamine, serotonin)

In many articles, you will find a mix between neurotransmitter and hormone actions, resulting in a broadly used but inaccurate concept called “HAPPINESS HORMONES.” This category often includes dopamine, serotonin, endorphins, and sometimes melatonin.

However, the scientific reality is different, and we will briefly present key neurotransmitters.

ACETYLCHOLINE

Its precursors are choline and acetyl-coenzyme A. It is involved in muscle activation and contraction, learning and memory processes, and plays an important role in regulating the autonomic nervous system.

Deficiency is associated with Alzheimer’s disease, Lambert-Eaton syndrome, and myasthenia gravis.

GAMMA-AMINOBUTYRIC ACID (GABA)

INHIBITORY. It is the main inhibitory neurotransmitter in the brain. It reduces excessive neuronal excitation, induces a state of calm, reduces stress and anxiety, and helps muscle relaxation.

Deficiency is associated with anxiety, insomnia, or restlessness.
Excess is associated with excessive sedation.

DOPAMINE

Its precursors are the amino acids L-phenylalanine and L-tyrosine. It is the neurotransmitter involved in motivation, reward, learning, and movement control. It supports behavior through anticipation and reward mechanisms.

Deficiency is associated with Parkinson’s disease, depression, low libido, lack of motivation, or compulsive eating.
Excess is associated with psychotic disorders (e.g., schizophrenia).

NORADRENALINE

Its precursors are the amino acids L-phenylalanine and L-tyrosine. It is involved in the stress response, increasing alertness, heart rate, and blood pressure, and contributes to maintaining concentration.

Deficiency is associated with low energy levels, depression, or lack of focus.

ADRENALINE

Its precursors are the amino acids L-phenylalanine and L-tyrosine. It functions both as a hormone and a neurotransmitter and regulates vital body functions (heart rate, blood pressure, blood glucose levels).

Deficiency is rare and difficult to define clinically.
Excess may cause hypertension, heart rhythm disorders, and metabolic imbalances.

SEROTONIN

Its precursor amino acid is L-tryptophan. It is a modulatory neurotransmitter involved in regulating mood, sleep, appetite, and emotional stability. It maintains psychological balance and stress tolerance.

Deficiency is associated with depression, anxiety, irritability, compulsive behavior, insomnia, and sugar cravings.
Excess is rare and may lead to serotonin syndrome.

HISTAMINE

It is involved in regulating wakefulness, appetite, and immune response (allergic reactions).

Imbalances are mainly associated with allergic reactions and sleep disorders.

GLYCINE

INHIBITORY. It is an inhibitory neurotransmitter in the spinal cord, involved in motor control, pain response regulation, and sleep quality.

GLUTAMIC ACID

It is the most important excitatory neurotransmitter in the central nervous system, involved in cognition, learning, and memory processes.

Imbalances (especially excess) are associated with neurotoxicity and neurological disorders.

SUBSTANCE P

It is involved in pain transmission and inflammatory processes.

ENDORPHINS

Their precursors are D-phenylalanine and DL-phenylalanine. They are natural substances with analgesic effects and contribute to pain perception modulation and the generation of a sense of well-being.

Low levels may be associated with increased sensitivity to pain.

Conclusion

The GH + Sleep Powder formula combines amino acids, precursors of neurotransmitters involved in relaxation and restful sleep, plant extracts with calming effects, as well as vitamins and minerals that support the nervous system.

GH + Sleep Powder acts directly on essential neurotransmitters involved in relaxation and sleep. Through its GABA content, the product helps reduce neuronal excitation and induces a state of calm, preparing the body for rest. At the same time, L-tryptophan supports the production of serotonin, responsible for emotional balance and well-being, which is later converted into melatonin—the hormone that regulates the sleep–wake cycle and facilitates falling asleep. Therefore, the product does not act as a simple sleeping pill but supports the natural processes that lead to deep and restorative sleep.

GH + Sleep is a supplement specifically designed for relaxation and improving sleep quality, helping you fall asleep faster, reduce stress, and achieve deeper sleep. At the same time, it supports muscle recovery and overall body regeneration during the night, contributing to a general sense of well-being the next day.
